The High Commission of Canada in New Delhi, India, jointly with CaseWare Analytics, Canada organized a half day programme on ‘Enhancing Audit Excellence through Data Analytics’ on 20th March 2018. The event was organized as a professional forum to exchange current knowledge on the subject amongst leaders of the Governance and Assurance community; more specifically Internal Auditors, Financial Auditors, Forensic Investigators, Accountants and MIS Professionals. The event was attended by around 25 invitees and comprised of Internal Audit Leaders, Senior Government Bureaucrats and Partners of Leading Audit Accounting Firms in India.The emphasis of the event was on ideas and solutions that seek to propel the audit teams to higher levels of productivity and deeper business insights, while meeting the onerous responsibilities as per stakeholder expectations.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Brian Parrott, Minister Commercial, High Commission of Canada. Mr. Ram Mohan Johri the Director General – International Centre for Information Systems & Audit (iCISA), Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India provided the Key Note address for the event and set the tone and premise for key discussions ahead on the ‘Need for Data Analytics in Audit’ and spoke about specific used cases on the application of IDEA Data Analysis Software within the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. This was followed by an independent presentation by Mr. Sumant Chadha, Senior Partner, T R Chadha & Co LLP Chartered Accountants on breaking down barriers to get the most out of the investment in IDEA Data Analysis Software at a Professional Services Firm thereby gaining recognition from the client for value-added services delivered. An impactful and insightful panel discussion was held by by Mr. Deepjee Singhal, Director, Sama Audit Systems and Softwares Pvt. Ltd with the panel members being Mr. Surath Mukherjee, Head Internal Audit & Risk Assurance, Dalmia Bharat Group and Mr. K J Chaudhry, Former Chief Commissioner (CGST, Excise & Customs) and currently Professor – GST at National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM). The panelists deliberated on winning strategies for implementing IDEA Data Analysis Software and planning and executing a quick payback on investment. The event concluded with a case study based presentation on New Features in IDEA Data Analysis Software Version 10.3 and niche features in IDEA Data Analysis Software over conventional spreadsheet applications by Mr. Jairam Rajshekhar, Director Client Relations, Sama Audit Systems and Softwares Pvt. Ltd.
